that's a hard one.........maybe you could make a 3-d shaped cake in the shape of some pipes that are connected say 3 or 4 pipes....Use say a 6" round cake and cut it in half and continue stacking these side by side to make a half pipe....but will give the illusion of a whole pipe but be sturdy for cake purposes.

here is some inspiration

what if you cut up a sheet cake into strips and rounded the sides to look like piping. maybe spell out his name be sure to make those connectors every so often and at turns....and all the letters would need to be connected...

Or make a sheet cake and write out happy fathers day in grey (I'd use a big tip to write it) and then add luster dust to it...again make it boxed letters with connectors all connected... maybe put a wrench or other small tool on the cake that you know he uses on the job.

Or for a fun cake you could make the top layer like a bathroom or kitchen and along the sides of the cake show where the pipes go down out of the sink or tub...too fun!

Hope you can come up with something great!!! Good luck!

I think you can bake a cake in a wide mouth canning jar. I have baked banana bread in them and it works. I have never baked a cake in them though. Bake several and join them together and put bends in them. I hope this gives you some ideas.

Hi,

Just wanted to wish you well on this one. I can't imagine a cake at the moment. The pipe idea started to turn some wheels, but I think my brain just rusted on the thought.

Pipes seem like they could be really creative though.

How about somehow making pipes out of MMF? When they dry, they would probably stand correctly and look pretty cool. Sorry, not very creative. icon_sad.gif
