If you are doing a 9 x 13 - a single layer will serve about 22 people....double will serve 45.

12x18 will serve 36...double layer 72
11x15 will serve 30...double layer 60

I hope this helps!

I'd go with an 11x15 torted and filled...it will give you some extra servings and look pretty when it's cut.

I feel really dumb asking this question but here goes... How can you get more servings just by adding an additional layer on top. It is still the same measurement icon_cry.gif

If you would have a single layer and cut it into, say a 2 inch wide square serving, it would be 2 inches tall (in a 2-inch tall pan). If you were to have a double layer, it would be 4 inches tall and you could cut it thinner (1-inch square). Does that make sense?

We're not talking about torting a single layer. It's like having 2 separate cakes stacked on top of each other which would serve as much as two singles.

Thanks marknrox I understand now. When you cut the cake it will be thinner sliced because it is doubled. Never thought about this method icon_rolleyes.gif
