Do I wait for it to dry a bit then write on it? I have the edible markers, will they work well? Thanks

Yes, let the fondant sit so it gets a little bit hard.. I tried writing on fondant after putting it on the cake and didn't work so great. When you put the pen onto the fondant it makes indentations. I found once the fondant sat awhile, it was much easier.
