Does anyone know where to find the rules or know the rules for a home based business in Colorado, I am thinking that it is not allowed at all but I can not find any information on the subject. My boyfriend and I were thinking that if it all worked out we might be able to build an extra kitchen in the basement.

Hiya Yuki,
welcome to cake central from a fellow coloradoan.
I am thinking that you can try to find out your info at the county extension office. I don't know if you are in Denver county or Jeffco but most of the time they are very very different on their regs. But that's the first place I would go and check.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the warm welcome icon_smile.gif I am in Highlands Ranch. I had heard that the rules for the state were strict but that was from an unreliable source.

I live in northeast colorado btw.
Colorado is funny about that kinda stuff. It's usually left to the counties as to what is what.
But I would think that highlands ranch would be in one of the more stricter areas though. You might even have to contend with the hoa.

icon_cry.gif Dam you had to remind me about them... icon_twisted.gif I swear I am going to run for president and when I am, I am going to make the reps do all kinds of crazy thing to get back at them. The HR HOA is so corrupt they deserve it, a while back they made a rule saying if you did not have a green lawn you would be fined daily during the drought and than taking cutbacks from the water companies for it. At least the second part I heard from a few people around town. They are constantly breaking the rules.

Oh well it will be a while before I have to deal with them, so I will not think about that too intently right now.

Hi everyone !
I live in Highlands Ranch, too - I've been meaning to check into home based businesses but haven't had time. I just looked on www.colorado.gov and there is a tab at the top that points to running a business. Looks like there is tons of information - and I don't have time to look at it this second but will later. Hope this helps. I'm going to check it out, too.

Do any of you belong to COICES??? I've been wanting to search out other Coloradans who are cake decorators but haven't had time for that either !! (darn work gets in the way of my fun!!).

Would enjoy hearing from all of you and would enjoy meeting you sometime. the COICES next meeting is the third Thursday (I think it is) of September. I'm planning on being there. Are any of you???

Hi fellow Coloradans (again) ~

For those of you that may be interested in joining ICES and COICES, the next meeting of COICES is the third Sunday of September at 3:00 at The Makery at County Line and Holly (Desiree from COICES works there). When I e-mailed her today she said that we can come to a meeting without joining the group just to check it out.

Hope to see you there!

Hey Coloradians!!!!!

I would totally love to go to that meeting....I think I might have to squeeze it in. I too am tempted by the thought of doing a second kitchen to make code, but don't even want to look into the code for fear that it might entise me icon_wink.gif.

I am way up north in Brighton!
