I have been lurking for months and have learned a lot. I am ready to try using gumpaste. I found it in a powder form at Michaels. Has anyone used this? Do you like it? Tips or tricks? It is a 40 minute drive and I don't want to get it if it's no good. I have looked on here for info, but have not found my answers. TIA!
Yes I use it. I mix it with fondant to make bows and flowers. It can be rolled very thin for making flowers such as dogwood and they look very real. It dries hard. A can will last a long time, it doesn't take very much at one time. Hope this helps. good luck!!!
okred do you mix the powder into your fondant or do you make up some gumpaste and then mix it with the ready made fondant?? By the way I have used the gumpaste mix and it works great.....my avatar is a cake I made with gumpaste flowers...my first time working with the gumpaste and found it very easy to work with...just be sure and cover up what you're not working with ...with some plastic wrap it starts to dry very quickly!! I bought the wilton flower kit and it was really easy to do so if you plan on trying out some flowers I would reccommend that kit...comes with all the cutters and a book and everything! Good Luck, and have fun!!!
Ok, I have the gumpaste and some fondant (They only had Wilton, but I doubt they are going to eat the decorations) Do I make the gumpaste and THEN knead it in with the fondant? Also, it only has directions to make 1 lb. Can anyone give me the ratio to make smaller batches? Thanks!
