Has anyone done this? I am planning a luau themed party for my son's end of school party; I had looked everywhere, and finally decided on what I wanted to do. THen a saw a cake (very sorry, can't remember who now) that had FBCT hibiscus on it; very pretty! I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to stick a FBCT on the side of a cake instead of the top? If not, does anyone know how to make hibiscus out of gumpaste/fondant? I have the wilton cutter set, and that's pretty much it.
TIA~

I made small FBCT footballs about 2" for a superbowl cake and stuck them on the sides of the cake. I cut the parchment paper around the image to make handling easier, and then pressed it into the side of the cake and peeled it off. It worked out fine.

I've done several FBCT's on the side of a cake. The biggest trick is to hold it securely in place till it melts enough to adhere to the base frosting. The first one I did was the bowling cake in my photos. The second one was much more complicated and I could've used another hand at the time, but it worked. I did one large FBCT on the top and 12 individual FBCT's around the sides of the cake (pokemon cake). I think those are all on the second page of my photos now (guess I put to many cake photos in there). But anyway, it is totally doable. Have fun!
