Is there any way to smooth cracks and wrinkles in fondant if it is already on a cake? I used Fond-x. I have used it before with really good results but it didn't get perfectly smooth for me this time at all. I had to re-roll it several times because it kept breaking when I tried to put it on the cake. The shelf-life is 6-months and I've only had it two, un-opened.

You could try putting a little bit of shortening on your finger and try to smooth out the cracks a bit. It sounds like the fondant is on the dry side.

I'll try that. I don't know. It didn't crack all over, just in one area. But I had a hard time rolling it out..had to re-roll it twice because it broke. It was just softer than normal. Here's a picture of the problem.
