Can I know if I am using a cartoon cakepan, is it difficult to layer the spongecake in half to put in fillings before icing and decorating it.

Also, if I am baking a spongecake in a cartoon cakepan, I will need to oil the pan before baking to avoid it sticking to the cakepan right? Sorry if my question sounds stupid but this is the first time I am using a cartoon cakepan. icon_razz.gif

Hi!

I haven't made these in spongecakes, however, I sure have make alot of them. They aren't very thick and tend to be a little pain to split and fill. I have done it and try to talk people out of it. I will usually try to have a second cake that I can put under and fill between that and the character pan.

As for baking, I always grease the pan. As I said, I haven't done it in sponge cake though. Sorry

Good luck

Always grease the pan and if you want a 2-layer filled cake, I always bake 2 of the charater cakes, cut off the raised shapes from one and use that beneath the other one with a filling sandwiching them together. Or I'll put the character pan on top of a sheet cake and put filling between those two cakes and usually fill the sheet cake too. Hope that helps!
