Good evening everyone. I need to make a replica of the New Orleans Superdome for May 14th and I don't know where to start. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. icon_confused.gif

here's some sketches that may help

note use of boards at every layer...not really necessary, probably could get by with just one at middle layer, but since I like to tort every layer, feel better safe than sorry buildint this high and with the carved shape.

note areas w/ hatching that you have to cut away (save for cake balls)

cover in fondant (my first pref.) or BC.
If doing fondant, I do base first, then add bottom half of dome, cover it, then add top minus dome top and cover it, then top off w/ white dome.

re: white top....bake the basic shape in either a soccer ball pan or some type of pyrex bowl or other dome shaped pan. trim down for the low dome.

detailing of lines can be done in many ways: painted on, done w/ frosting, etc. and if fondant even impressed (toothpick?) into the fondant.

if this seems too big, scale down to a 9x9 square base and use 8" rounds.
