i am just making BC and i was wondering, if i added some cream cheese - like the kind out of the fridge, will it give it more of a cream cheese taste? and will it be good?

if anyone has any ideas that would be great- thanks

I do that. I also cut cream cheese frosting 1:1 ratio with my IM Buttercream. YUM!!

I've done it. Just a caution....I started with a very soft buttercream. Adding the cream cheese made it REALLY soft. The borders wouldn't stay on. It tasted great, though! Just make sure your original buttercream has some body to it and you'll be fine.

Antonia74 When you add cream cheese to IMBC does it still stay stiff enough to pipe border? I have been wanting to make a cream cheese IMBC but didn't think that would work. How much do you substitute in for butter?

thanks

no, it's good for the filling, but not for the masking or piping.

I use the Crusting Cream Cheese Icing recipe here in CC and mix it in with my BC recipe (also a 1:1 ratio) and it is wonderful. It tastes great, is easy to work with and doesn't get too soft. Good luck!
