I just finished a cake that is on a board...they didn't want anything fancy so I covered a white board with wax paper icon_redface.gif I have no idea why I did that. Anyway water or something got underneath the paper and stained the board with blue spots. Any idea on how I can hide the spots??? icon_cry.gif

Cover the board with royal icing. You could either do it kind of spiky/textured, or you could do sort of a color flow and have it smooth. I think it depends on what kind of cake it is...tell me more and maybe I'd have some more ideas.

Good luck,

how about putting some sports themed stickers on the cake board? Or using fondant or royal icing to make some star to scatter about the board. The cake looks great though, I know I am not there but at first did not notice the blue dots.

good luck

Is the blue color just on top of the waxed paper? If so, how about just cutting the wax paper off very near the cake with an exacto or razor knife. If need be you could remove the bottom border and do it and then repipe. That way you still have waxed paper under the cake but not on the white board. Does that make sense?

You could also put icing grass on the board and hide the wax paper, kinda in theme with the sports.

Yes, I would go with the piped grass or fondant pushed thru a garlic press to cover all the areas on the board that are a problem. It would look great!

I like the idea of putting some stars around the cake board, strategically placed to cover the blue spots.

I'm not sure where all the spots are, if this will work or not, but it sounds like it would be cute to match those smaller stars you have on the cake. You could do them with a border and fill in with the star tip.

If you decorate the board with buttercream, just be careful when you carry the cake that you don't stick your fingers in it (does it sound like I speak from experience? icon_redface.gif )

Cute cake!

Honestly I don't hardly notice it and would think you could leave it and they would just think it was a blue spotted board but probably wouldn't notice. Now maybe its just the pic. But you know it isn't supposed to be there; but they dont
