I have learned a very important lesson in making sure to get all of your cake supplies back from a wedding/birthday...
Make a list of everything that needs to be returned (be descriptive) to leave with whoever is responsible for getting the supplies back to you.

I have had 3 parties that all items were not returned. Called on the first which were the screw-on legs to my (expensive) internal support system. Bride said she didn't have them and would look for them. Did not hear back from her. Ordered more. When she called for a birthday cake, I told her I would have to charge for the cake plus $35.00 for the items that I had to reorder. (I know--I should have gotten a deposit).

Next was a 10" dummy cake that I had just gotten from Dallas Foam. Instructed mother of the bride (she ordered the cake) to return the cake stand, dummy cake (she did not have to wash it, just put in plastic wrap) and silver cake plateau. MOB was going to check with bride--did not return call. Had to order another one!!!

Now waiting on Bride to call about returning part of acryllic cake stand. Did get deposit on last two, but it is just plain irritating to have to reorder stuff. Sorry just needed to vent!!!

You just vent all you have to!

I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. I'm even more sorry that there are people out there that would do this! UGH!! I'm still waiting on 2 cake plates from a wedding I did over 2 months ago. But, he's the thing: my own cousin has them. Ugh!

Good Luck, I hope you get all of your items back and I hope you don't waste money buying more.

What did the one say when you told her that you'dhave to charge her for the cake and for the "missing pieces"??

That is a hard lesson to learn but it helps others like me to know that we need to get a deposit on our items. Sorry you have to go through that. icon_sad.gif

mmdd--
She paid it!!! She said she couldn't understand how those little legs cost so much--I told her, Uhh, shipping, taking the time to reorder and the cost of 4 legs.

Also charge a last minute fee of $25.00 when people wait to order the night before they need a cake. Most of my returning customers know that I need 2 days notice--Hey, I have a life outside the pastry bag!!!
