I am going to be making a semi-truck out of a loaf pan for a groom's cake and I am trying to figure out how many it will serve. The dimensions are 16x4x 4.5 deep. I ordered it from countrykitchensa.com today. Hope someone can help me! icon_lol.gif

on square or rectangle cakes it's easy to do the math.....if you cut in half lengthwise (2 rows, 2" wide) then cut them in 1" slices (16 rows), you'd get 32. The piece would be 4.5" X 2 X 1 .... pretty much the same as a wedding cake slice.

How many cake mixes... You know, I never thought of that! I usually make the wasc double recipe and use what I need for a cake and make extra cupcakes if I have leftover. I figured I would tort and fill it so it would be big enough to make a semi-trailer.

when it arrives, see what the insert says. i'd be curious on how much cake mix wilton says to use to serve 12 people!

I'll do that. I don't remember it saying that it was a Wilton pan on countrykitchensa.com but I guess what else would it be...I'll post whenever I get it. icon_smile.gif

I thought 12 seemed a little low too. icon_eek.gif

Ok, so I got my pan yesterday and it says:
for butter-type cakes use about 9 cups batter (one cake mix is 4-6)
for angel food cakes use one standard mix or 10-12 egg white recipe

It has a recipe for a strawberry angel food cake that serves 12 using the one angel food cake mix.

2 mixes is what you use for a 11x15 pan, which serves 25 to 35, depending on the serving size. That "serves 12" sounds high to me for this much batter. They must be thinking Hearty Party Sizes! icon_lol.gif
