I just purchased people molds for gumpaste which came with no instructions. I thought it would be easy enough but can't seem to get the gumpaste out after. Has anyone used these before and any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are they flexible molds?? If they are you could try sticking them in the freezer for firm up the gumpaste and see if that helps.

Straight from my Wilton Encyclopedia which has a section on using the gumpaste people molds-

1. Oil the molds every time you make a figure. Brush the inside with vegetable oil and then wipe out the excess.

2. Rub a little cornstarch into the gumpaste before putting it in the mold.

3. Firmly press into the moldd, trim excess and then loosen the edges only.

4. When putting two halves together, brush the surface with gum glue or egg white before putting the molds together. Make sure the adhesive does not seep down into the mold. Place the back half on the top and press together firmly. Push the two halves together at the exposed waist and feet. Loosen the halves of the mold and then remove the back half, Let the gumpaste "roll out" of the front half of the mold and lift the mold off the top of the feet. Gently smooth seams with finger.

HTH

Let me know if you need any more details.

The Encyclopedia is Wilton Way of Cake Decorating Volume 2. Look for it on e-bay. I have 2 of the 3. They are out of print and are getting hard to find now. The people molds were discontinued about 15 years ago and are getting VERY hard to find. Once again, e-bay is your best bet for those.

Where did you get this mold? I would love to check it out. I am not having any luck making the little babies I want for a cake later this month. icon_confused.gif

You can use soap or chocolate molds to do this.... the encyclopedia I have is vol 1 and 3 guess that is why I didn't know about the molds information. I am still looking for vol 2 and very happy with the other 2 volumes, has a wealth of information in it.
