Has anyone done a dummy cake in buttercream and if so how long does it last?

It oughta last a good long while, although the colors will fade, if it's exposed to much light. I usually peel mine off after a couple of days to make another one, so I've not pushed the envelope.

My class instructor told us her dummies had been covered for a year and a half...Plain white with RI flowers. hope that helps.

if i ever need to make a non-fondant fake wedding cake, I use tinted thick royal icing. Pretty close!
