I'm going to make a cake that calls for heavy cream in the recipe, also I've found a raspberry cream filling I want to use between the layers. The raspberry filling calls for heavy whipping cream, whipped. My question: can I use the heavy whipping cream in the batter instead of buying both items?

I believe they're the same thing so you could use one or the other.

Whipping Cream and Heavy Whipping Cream aren't the same. Heavy Whipping Cream and Heavy Cream are the same.
