Ok, here is my ?. I made my first batch of MMF and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. This was last night.....Today I started to kneed it again to start working with it. I noticed small pieces of powered sugar which made the MMF lumpy and not smoothed when I rolled it out. So, I put it back in the microwave with a little water. This worked and I noticed that i have to work it alittle at a time.

However, is it still suppose to be alittle stringy? I am not sure of what the texture should be. Should it hold its shape? Mine is still alittle stringy and after I work is some it gets to be sticky. Do I need to keep adding powered sugar? What should it feel like or look like when I have reached to final product?

Thanks in advance......the cakes are due tommorrow, and I am getting nervous.....Kim

I'd sift some confectioner's sugar on top and knead it into the fondant. It shouldn't be stringy, but easy to handle without being real sticky. Once you get it to the right consistency, you can use either cornstarch or Crisco to roll it out on. Good luck and I hope things turn out well for you!!

If it's sticky I would definitely add a little powdered sugar and it should be fine.......try rubbing a little crisco on your hands too when you're working with it, it helps make it nice and smooth, but be careful not to add too much to it because I have heard that it can break down the fondant, but I always use it to grease my work surface and my hands when using it and it works great!!!

Hello and thanks for your help. Ok, I will add some more powered sugar and see what happens. Ok, now when I pull it apart is it suppose to be stringy or should it break apart easily? Because I would love to mold some booties, but they are not holding their shapes........

Thanks again Kim
