I know this question has been asked before...but how many servings to I add to a cake with an extra layer of cake is added. Is there a general rule??
I have a 9X13 cake that has three layers. It normally serves 40 with two layers, but with another layer how many do I add???
Well I can't answer your question, but I am hoping someone out there can. I am interested in the answer also. Can anyone help?
I just wanted to bump this up.
Also...I am having trouble with getting the forum boards up on my computer...it keeps telling me that there are no forum boards...Could some one tell an administrator...to check my account.
Thanks...oh and please have them reply to me by PM...since I can't get the forum boards up.
Thanks
I found two answers : For a 9x12 you need 1 and half boxes for each pan.
For a 9x13 you need 2 cake mixes 1 cake per pan. So you can see that this is for 2 layers. two layers serves 50 people and the size of each serving 1x2. This is from Dolores McCann from Sugarcraft. In this she is assuming you are using the standard mix with the eggs, oil, etc. And I think this is probably wedding cake servings. Hope this helps.

Sorry, I kept getting a message saying that none of these emails went through. Oh me, Oh my!
I did get your pm and what I ment was...if you have a finished 3 layer cake. If it would add to the number of servings you would get. I read somewhere that you get more servings by adding layers of cake. But I don't how many it would add. I guess by adding more cake layers you add to the height of the cake which would mean the slices are smaller so you could get more servings. I don't really know if that is correct.
But thanks for that info...
