I want to try MMF but I don't have a heavy duty mixer yet. The instructions here say to stir by hand if that's the case but will it really work?
It's a lot of work to do, but it can be done ... It will take you awhile to get it all incorporated and mixed, but you can do it by hand.
OK, it's worth a shot! Hopefully, my arms and shoulders will make it though w/o a visit to the chiropractor afterward!
I always mix my MMF by hand. It takes about 5 minutes of kneading. And your arms will feel like they're going to fall off.
I've mixed it by hand becuase I was afraid my mixer wouldn't stand up to it either. It did get a little firmer before I was finished, so you can just zap it in the microwave for a few seconds if you need to (remember to make sure the bowl is microwave-safe before doing this though!). Zap for a few seconds, then is should be easier to work with again.
I have never mixed it using a mixer...I have one, I guess I just didn't think it was necessary to dirty the beaters, get powdered sugar all over the outside of it and the stainless bowl, when I could just dirty one tupperware bowl LMAO..........I always do it by hand....and I never thought it was very difficult..I think it's very theraputic kneading dough though (guess I'm weird) it's very relaxing to me!!
I mixed my first batch of MMF last night and I have to say: it wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be. I followed the recipe here on CC by Cheryl (ntertayneme) and followed her suggestion of mixing the first half of the PS in with the marshmallow mixture using the mixer and then mix in the rest of the PS by hand. Boy, my mixer was a-burnin' after just the first half! All in all, it was kinda fun! And kind of a stress reliever too!
