Hello - I have been practicing making roses with buttercream icing. Everything looks good except for the bottom row of petals. I can't seem to get the petals to fan out, they just stand up vertically. I have tried tilting the narrow end of the tip away from the rose, but there isn't really much room to tilt because of the rose nail. Any ideas what I am doing wrong here? Could it be my icing consistency, or is it the way I am positioning the bag/tip? Thanks!

1. to make the teepee of the rose, hold it at an angle of 11o'clock. 2. to make the first row of petals hold it at 12 o'clock. 3. 2nd row hold at 1 o'clock. 4. last row (row you're speaking of) hold at 2 or 3 o'clock. That's what I was taught.
Hope this helps!!!!

I make my roses using a sharpened dowel rod. A million times easier and the doesn't get in the way of the bottom row of petals.

I was taught to tilt the narrow end back until it's uncomfortable! It will seem like you don't have room, but it will work....trust me!
