I see that some people on here use Icing Images and it looks so perfect. Almost fake or non edible. What is it??? I have to do a Dora the Explorer: Fairytale cake and would love to be able to do this.

Thanks for the help!

You use a printer designated for this purpose with edible ink and special paper. I have seen alot of people use Lucks brand and ahhh I can't think of the other name brand! Hope this helps a bit!

ps-how's life in LA? I haven't been back to NOLA but we are going in April for a wedding and May for dh's graduation. I want to see what's left of our house and I don't. Guess I'll decide when we get there.

There are a couple of ways to do it. A buttercream frozen transfer and a edible sheet printed on the computer. The instructions for the frozen transfer are under articles.

You're probbaly thinking of frosting sheets, sometimes called icing sheets. They're a sugar-based type of edible paper that is pressed onto a plastic backing and then printed on using edible inks. It's a lot like very thin layers of dried frosting. They dissolve into BC and you can't even tell they're there when the cake is cut or eaten.

Thanks everyone. It must be the edible, printable paper that I am seeing. I thought maybe it was somethng else! It looks so PERFECT and the way they were standing up. I will have to look into that.

Dodibug:
Things are getting back to normal. We are still in "Katrina" mode but I see "normal" mode in the future. You have not seen you house yet?!? My mother lives on the westbank so I travel through New Orleans everyweek. New Orleans East is still pretty much empty but you see signs of rebuilding and a fema trailer here and there. The Lakeview area is just heart breaking and empty with destruction everywhere. My husband and I have been to the French Quarter a couple of times and it is doing GREAT! It is the cleanest I have ever seen it. Families walking around, shopping, looks like something from the movies. We had lunch at the French Market Cafe on the Balcony last Sunday and it was WONDERFUL! My mother is still in her fema trailer and so or my in-laws and brother-in-law ~ with no signs of getting into their homes any time soon. <sigh> Good Luck coming home! Let me know if there is anything I can get/do for you over here!

Thanks for the offer bj! My dh got accepted to his residency here so we will be in Florida for the next few years. I have only seen pictueres of our house and the inside. dh and friends have been there but I never went because of our little one. I always stayed in Florida with him when dh went back. We were in Lakeview about 2 miles from the breach. I was such a neat neighborhood that I don't know if I even want to put myself thru it to goes see. The pics are bad enough. I was so amazed that the Westbank fared as well as it did. We have friends who had power and water during the storm. I would've lost money on that bet lol. It's so good to hear things are becoming more normal. That light at the end of the tunnel shining thru!! It made me happy to see that you were busy doing cakes. Celebrations mean normal!
