I found a recipe that calls for 2 packets of Cream Whip.
Does anyone know what this is, where I can get it, what department it's in and can i substitute with anything else if my stores don't carry it?
Thanks! icon_smile.gif

Do you mean Dream Whip? It is a powdered form of whipped topping that is in my grocery store's baking aisle, kind of by the Jell-o

If I dont have regular whip...or I don't have enough orders to use a whoel carton of cream, i just whip up a sm batch of dream whip...you can use it n 1/2 cup increments, so if i have a small cake, or small orders, that's what I use

i use it to make my filling lighter

This is a doctored cake mix recipe for a Pink Champagne cake...the recipe actually asks for it in the ingredients.
I'm in the middle of making three different flavorored cakes for a wedding cake tasting on Sunday and I don't have time to drive all over town so i just made it without the DW... icon_confused.gif I hope it comes out okay...hmmm now what do I do with the rest of this bottle of champagne?????? icon_smile.gif

I doctor my cakes with dream whip...it makes them so moist and still dense enough at the same time. I love the dream whip in cake mixes. It is good just made as whipped cream topping too.

There is no recipe for Dream Whip - it's in a package in the aisle around the jello and pudding. For each box of cake mix, I use a package of Dream Whip, along with extra vanilla and almond flavoring. I've never used it to make an icing or anything else.

The cake sounds great! I do have a recipe for a buttercream that calls for Dream Whip. I found it on the Wilton web site. I used it to ice my DD's birthday cake a few weeks ago and it is really good. Not quite as sweet as regular buttercream.

1 1/2 cups of Crisco
2 T cake flour
1/2 t salt
1 t Wilton butter flavor
2 t clear vanilla
1 1/2 T powdered dream whip mixed with 1/2 cup hot water
2 # confectioners sugar

Mix the above ingredients but use 1/2 of the confectioners sugar until creamy and smooth, then add remaining sugar and lightly beat until thouroughly mixed. As a note, the author added that she mixes up an additional 1/8 cup of hot water with approximately 2-3 t dream whip and add to make the desired consistency for easy spreading to cover the cake. It really is a good recipe.

That's what I want to know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had couple people mention they like the Costco whipped cream icing and I'm not sure if it is Dream Whip like or Whipping Cream frosting, what's the difference?

Kind of like the whip cream frosting, but a little sweeter. It is fluffier than regular buttercream. It does crust and in the recipe it says that you can do anything with it (borders, flowers, etc). I have only used it a couple of times so far so I really have not gotten to do much with it. I am always in search of a not-so-sweet recipe that is as easy to work with as the Wilton buttercream recipe and so far this one is my favorite.

If you are making the champagne cake recipe I think you are save the left over champagne in the fridge and you cvan use it in the future in that recipe. It's ok if the champagne goes flat that way you don't waste it. Or live on the edge buy some O.J. and make Mimosas!

P.s. if it's the same recipe the cake will be Yummy
