i have a customer who wants banana cake- anyone have any good recipes? i've never made one before, also, what kind of icing to go with? she wants an image on the top, maybe of a tire, or a guy pushing a tire, etc (it's for her dad who owns a tire and auto shop). can you put a fbct on top of icings that aren't buttercream? or would buttercream taste o.k. with banana. any help would be great, since this is my first banana cake request
Do you have the Cake Bible? I think she has a good banana cake recipe in there. If not let me know and I will get it for you. I think a coffee buttercream would taste awesome with this. We live in Italy and anytime we get gelato my husband gets banana and coffee...soooooo nummy!
no, unfortunately i don't have that book. if you could pm me the recipe that would be wonderful. does it rise like a normal cake? seems i've had banana cake before, but it didn't rise up much, might have been just that recipe. thanks. there's a couple recipes on this site, but i don't know much about them, since i have never made this
The Cake Bible recipe is FAB!! It rises just fine... and is absolutely delish with chocolate buttercream!
I made a banana flavored cake using a yellow cake mix, banana flavored instant pudding and sour cream. It was easy and tasted really good. I am going to make it again and put strawberries in the middle and cover with chocolate for a banana split cake!
