Serving Size

i was wondering about what size is actually considered as a serving? i know that everyone charges by serving for wedding cakes and i know that each cake serves so many people. what i havent figured out is what inch by inch is a serving? thanks for all you help.

usually a 2x2 is a regular serving

In the Wilton books it says that a wedding size serving is only 1" by 2" and a party size serving is 1 1/2" by 2".
