I'm making a birthday cake for my son's 3rd birthday. There will be 8 three year olds. Any suggestions on which will go over better: MMF or Rolled Buttercream? or should I just stick with traditional buttercream?

I've never used rolled BC, so I can't help you with that, but I know kids like marshmallows and MMF tastes like those circus penuts which kids like so it might me fine... still 3 year olds can be pretty pickie about stuff they haven't had before... I would sugest using a thick layer of BC under the MMF so they can peel it off if they don't like it. Or just use BC. HTH!

I do a ton of kids parties. And more of them like the rolled butter cream better than the mmf. I do flavor mine with the Loraine oils. I get the most request from the kids for the Tutti Frutti flavor... It is kinda like a fruit puch, very sweet, they LOVE it!!!!

I guess it also depends on what you will be doing with it.. I love to work with the rolled butter cream, but it is greaser than mmf. I happen to like this for figure molding. Some people do not like the shine either. I will say, I hate to cover cakes with it.

If you are covering a cake go with mmf.

I did read a post that said you could do 50% mmf and 50% Rolled BC..

I always do a tastle teste with my customers mmf, candy clay, and several falvors of rolled BC. Almost all pick the rolled butter cream.

When in dought ask you little guy!
