Hi everyone:
I can't believe that I am so paranoid about baking a cake. Well, my niece is having an engagement party and I volunteer, don't know why icon_cry.gif , to bake the cake. I have an idea of the decoration. Actually I think I send you the drafted design about two weeks ago. What I am worry about is baking the cake. I would love to make a nice and moist cake. My sister recommended one of those Heins cake mix boxes. What do you guys think? Please help icon_sad.gif I trust your judgment.

Hugs to everyone.
Tina

Tina, I am hooked on Pillsbury cake mixes and I highly recommend bake-even strips or your own homemade version of them. They make the cake rise evenly and stays moist in the corners and around the edges.

I love a duncan hines box mix, but you can probably use any name brand and have it turn out nicely. I really like the duncan hines yellow mix with a packet of instant vanilla pudding in it. Makes it very dense and moist. super yummy.

I use box mixes all the time. My first choice is Betty Crocker and then Duncan Hines. They both produce a great cake. Sometimes when baking larger cakes I will use one box of BC and one of DH in the same flavors. I think the secret to a moist cake is to not overbake.

Hi everyone:
Thanks a million. I think I will try to make 2 to 3 cakes of different one you suggested. I feel much better.

I will take pictures when I make the cake and submit it for everyone to look and your opinion.

freddyfi when you add pudding to your DH mix do you only add the ingredients from the cake mix box or do you add the extra milk on the pudding box. I have never used pudding in a cake.

I agree with Tiramasu: "I think the secret to a moist cake is to not overbake."
