We have decided on turning a storage room into a kitchen just for my cakes it adjoins a small kitchenette I use for my childcare so plumbing will not be a big problem
It is a bare slate yet we have limited funds what would you want and what is a necessity
good lighting
large work surface at correct height I noticed my decorating height is higher than what I need to say roll fondant
storage open or cabinets?
wall oven or free standing range 2? would have to be in the future

It's Earlene Moore's kitchen for her to make cakes- I love her big stand mixer in it.
As much as I love wall ovens... floor models are typically wider, making it better for cakes.
For sure...good lighting. When I try to decorate a cake after dark in my kitchen, I can't see a thing! I try to do it before the sunsets--LOL!

Speaking of good lighting- try to get lights that allow you to see the true color of something. Some of my lights in my kitchen cast a yellowish haze on my stuff- very frustrating when you are trying to get a good color for your icing.
Storage would be good! I have so many cake decorating items like pans, bags, tips, cake boxes, etc. and I am running out of space!
yeppers I must say I like the kitchen..... cant wait until I get one!
but I would say yeah two ovens, an island for more counter space, closed storage of some type.... a sink.... and a tall two door pantry with rotating shelves so I could just spin the shelf to get what I want.... and I would want almost everything waist up....
I'd check with the health dept. and see what they require. That way you can be liscensed! I know the rules are diffrent everywhere.... special sinks, washable floors, ect
I asked the health department here in Aurora Colorado and they said I had to buy all commercial appliances and that there had to be like 4 diffrent sinks plus the plumbing was another big expense which I can't afford to do at this point she said my best bet was to look for a licenced kitchen from a bakery or restaurant that would be willing to rent it to me.
Bummer!
