I just made a batch of MMF last nite. I wrapped it in saran wrap and put in a zip lock bag. This morning it was still nice and soft.
Question #1: Do I need to refrigerate this?
Question #2: IF the consistency is not right, such as too soft, can I make it firmer so it will hold it's shape? If is sticky can I add more powdered sugar? I did not need the full 2 lbs. if called for. I will be making a cake for next Saturday and wanted a trial run and will do a cake tomorrow using this batch.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hiya Karen,
Welcome to CC.
K, to answer your questions, Don't refrigerate it. It'll keep as long as you have it wrapped like you do.
If it's tooo sticky just knead some more powdered sugar into it. and if it gets too stiff, just rub some crisco on your hands and knead that into the fondant.
Hopefully this helps.

Dang, I forgot to mention the ol' zap it trick.
If it does turn hard on you in the bag, you can pop it in the ol' microwave for about 10-15 seconds and it should soften it right up.

I've used it a few times and never had a problem keeping it wrapped on the counter. I usually wrap in saran and then put in a tupperware container.

So, chaptlps, do you know about how many cakes you can do with one package of marshmallows/sugar? Just a guess? I'm trying to decide if I need to make another batch. I made two. I have to cover a 12" and an 8" and need a bunch for figurines/decorations.

lessee here,
I made my dd a cake and it was a 9" shaped cake and for the whole thing I used ummm 1 batch for covering the cake and had some left over and another batch for the embellishments. And I had a BUNCH (of course) leftover from that.
I think that there is a weight guide on the wilton website somewhere about that can't remember for sure. But I also think that there is one at www.earlenescakes.com too.
You could prolly get away with making 1 batch for each cake and one more for the figurines. If you have any left over I am sure you could use that on another cake. Because MMF does have a decent shelf life. Better to have too much than not enough I say.

I've been keeping mine stashed in the pantry....in a Food Saver bag. That little machine has always been worth its weight in gold, but I'm really using the bejeebers out of it now that I'm decorating again. I just opened a bag that's been stashed a couple of weeks I think, and it was just like I put it up there this morning.
