I am making mini cupcakes for my husband to take to work on St. Patrick's Day. I want to make them look like pots of gold. My ? is how can I do this with buttercream?

I know that it could be done w/ fondant but the only people I have found that likes fondant are children. I want them to look really good and taste good b/c I do this to generate business.

PS: I am making mini cupcakes b/c he works for a very buisy restaurant. And since St. Patrick's Day will be on a Friday I know that people want have time to cut and eat a piece of cake. However, the mini cupcakes are basically bite size.

maybe have the "pot" part dipped in ganache after carving them a little to make them more pot shaped? And using white chocolate melts shaped like coins and colored with gold luster dust?

I use candy melts with whipping cream added - tastes great and coats very well!

I wouldnt level them much either and fill the cups a little fuller than usual to give the soon to be bottom of pot more roundness...and for the edge (once they are upside down and started on it will be the top or lip of pot) pipe a round no 2-3 around the edge in dark choc?...just some ideas
