I Just Made A Big Red Chocolate Blob

Well I was going to try to make my chocolate boxes with the red wilton chocolate candy melts that I had in my pantry. Me being the perfectionist that I am I thought it wasn't red enough. So after my chocolate melted so nice and smooth I added some red Americolor to it. Immediately it turned into a great big red blob!!! I, then, read the ingredients on the Americolor bottle and the first one was water. Hmmmmmm I think I remember y'all saying to keep the water out of Chocolate. Grrrrrrrr......

Don't you hate that happens. I know what you did cause it happened to me with petit fours tried to cover them in chocolate and wanted to change the color. NOT GOOD.
We can chalk it up to lesson learnt!

I think I read Colorboy stated that Flocoat could be used with the candy colors and then you can use Americolors with it. Have to have the Flocoat though.
Add some crisco to it and it should be ok, I had that happen to me with some candy melts I tried to color black for outlining, added some crisco back to it and I was able to pipe the outline just fine.
....it's like watching an accident happen and not being able to do a darn thing about it!! ugh....I just wanted to cry and turn back time 10 seconds so bad when that happened to me!!
I didn't have enough red chocolate candy melts to start over but this is what I did... I took the few candy melts that I had left and added some papafin wax! It poured so smoothly!!! Just like pouring water. I can't wait to see how the boxes turn out. I have them in the fridge right now. I think that next tiem I will also add the parafin wax but just less of it and more chocolate. I'm hoping the parafin wax will give it a little shine.
