I really like the cake mix extender from this site. I will add cocoa or melted chocolate to a chocolate mix that I use the extender with just because I feel that the chocolate flavor is diluted somewhat with just the extender. I use the extender every time I bake a boxed cake mix.

I tried it this weekend with a French Vanilla cake mix and french vanilla pudding. Duncan Hines. It does come out like a pound cake. Heavy but kinda of moist. Working with the dense cake was great, not too many crumbs on the side but the taste for me was blah. I have read so many thumbs up on it that I guess I expected more flavor. I also added some clear vanilla flavor as well. I froze a layer and I'll try that in a day or two. Maybe after freezing it will pick up it's taste. Pam - the sponge icon_rolleyes.gif

I've used the one on this site several times and it comes our great. When doing a chocolate cake, I usually add about 3T cocoa. I received rave reviews for the taste of the cakes I did for Saturday.

I use the extender all the time when you need a bit extra batter and don't want to waste another mix!!!
