I made my first doll cake. I decorated it with BC and everything was fine until the next morning when I took it out of the fridge it was cracked in different places. Do you think this was caused from frosting the cake immediately after I took it out of the freezer? Please help

when you freeze a cake, just like an ice cube, it expands, so if you frost it frozen, as it warms up and contracts back to it's normal size, the will cause the frosting to crack. if i freeze, or even refrigerate, i always wait for the cake to come to room temp before frosting.

I always frost right after freezing and haven't had that problem. The only time I've had cracks is when I've done a sheet cake that didn't have enough support underneath. After cake had crusted, and I picked it up, the board bent the tinest bit, leaving a crack in the icing.
