I just got an order for a doll cake. They want to use a barbie in the cake (which they will supply) so I will make it using a bunt pan and a single layer round pan. There will be no filling and it will be iced in buttercream. I am fairly new to decorating so my ckaes are not perfect. However, you can't get the doll cakes in the bakeries here. The local bakeries charge about $13-$14 For a 1/4 sheet and anywhere from $23-$27 for a 1/2 sheet.

What do you think is a fair price????

Hi Cat,

I charge $65-70.00 for my Barbie cakes. I use the 12" or 14" round for the bottom.

I took a look at what Publix charges for their Barbie cakes & with the doll included they charge 38.00.
Sometimes these Barbie cakes can be time consuming, so without having to supply the doll, I would say you should at least charge $30-$35

I have a similar situation not about a barbie cake, but a mini heart cake which is about the size of your whole hand, is double layer w/buttercream, covered in fondant with a ribbon around the perimiter of the cake. I was thinking $10.00 per cake, but im not sure, any help icon_cry.gif ????
I tried using the prcie matrix, but I have XP and could not retrieve it.
Thanks!!!

I've never made a Barbie cake, so I'm not sure how you would price it. but since bakeries around you don't even make such a cake, I would think you could charge pretty much whatever you want!

In case I ever have to make one, I'm wondering how the Barbie would stay in the center of a Bundt cake. Isn't the hole too large? Or do you secure it in some way?

The hole is not much larger than the barbie and what little space it left I feel in w/ thick buttercream.

I've charged $45. Great tip ---- If you have a batter bowl from Pampered Chef it makes a great shape for a barbie skirt. They make a small one that is perfect. I just bake my cake at 300 for a longer period of time and it comes out perfect.

missyjo30:
Mrs. Missey has a good idea about the matrix.. I can't get the price matrix either.. just get together your supplies to make the cake.. Divide it so that you know exactly how much it cost to make it and x's it by 3.. that should give you a good estimate.. Good luck!! LOTS OF NUMBERS BE PREPARED.. LOL I worked on mine for about 2 days and i was sick of looking at number, dividing them, multiplying them but in the end it's very very worth it!!
