My chocolate cigarello/ruffle cake and two cake gift certificates brought in $200.00 each at the dessert auction last night. I was so happy to be able to add $600.00 on my own for our community center. YAY!!

OMH Shirley that cake is amazing!!!
The chocolate curls remind me of picotee carnation petals.
Wish I lived in your area, that cake would be mine
....course then I would always be broke, but happy
Wow Shirley - the cake looks divine and I'm so happy you were able to contribute to your community. Is there any way that you could contribute to the CC community by sharing how you made the Chocolate Ruffles (and two-toned them as well)?
You did an incredible job - thanks for posting your pictur!
Wow! You should be proud! That cake is beautiful! I also agree that the top looks like those carnations. What a great gift for your community!
Congratulations!

Thank you, I was excited and happy, just wanted to share. For those who asked about a tutorial on the chocolate ruffles, I wrote a post in the "How Do I" category. Not a tutorial, just an explanation of how I made them.

Thank you. Have you seen Nati's tutorial on her website for making chocolate cigarettes? Still time consuming but easier than tempering chocolate, spreading it, waiting for just the right moment and then pushing the chocolate scraper to form each cigarette. These would also be more uniform in size as the acetate papaer is all cut the same length and width.
