I am very new to all this. I am planning to bake and decorate about 50-60 cookies as favors for my daughter's party on Feb. 12. I am also attempting to make and decorate her birthday cake. (Thus the name projectqueen, I am forever getting in over my head with projects!)
Anyway, in the interest of time I thought I would make the cookies and try to freeze them since I don't think they'd stay fresh for 12 days otherwise.
Do I bake them first and then freeze them or do I just cut out the shapes and then freeze the raw dough? I want them to taste yummy.
Thanks.
If I remember correctly, you should not decorate and freeze, espcially with royal icing. Maybe someone else can answer that better.
I'll just bump you back up!

I freeze mine decorated all the time--and I use royal icing, sometimes a really stiff buttercream. Just make sure your cookies are COMPLETELY dry, Put a sheet of parchment between layers, and you should be good to go.
I learn something new everyday on this site.
Good question ProjectQueen. Love the name too!
