I need some help! I have an order for a baby shower cake. The only information is that it has to have pink roses, butterflies, and feed 50 people. I want to do a stacked cake so that I won't have to do a huge sheet cake.

This is my idea.... but I need some ideas.

My first idea is to do a 10 inch round (2 layers) for the bottom, then an 8 inch square (2 layers), then a 4 inch circle (2 layers) on top..... I thought about making them all look like baskets, with pink flowers flowing out of all three layers. But, brown or white for the basket weave?

I've searched and searched, and I can't find anything that resembles what I'm picturing in my mind..... help!!! I am better with a picture to work off of!

Also, do you think buttercream would be the best icing to work with? The mother-to-be has requested a SWEET icing. (which seems so unusual because normally I get requests for a not-so-sweet icing!)

Any ideas would be great!!!!!

I was thinking of either making the butterflies out of a candy mold, rice paper, or vellum (non-edible) or fondant. I do not know where rice paper is available in my area.

Thanks for everything! This site is the best!!!!!!!!!

There is a website that has some adoreable baby cakes. There is a really cute one with pink, roses, and I think butterflies.
It is www.cakestrings.com
Check in the recent creations and baby sections. I know you'll be inspired!!!

I checked, the one I was thinking of is under latest creations on the far right. I love that cake!!!

Definitely white icing. I would just use a buttercream icing--works well with the basket weave technique. I have never used rice paper, so I can't help you there. Be sure an post a pic of the cake.

Buttercream would be your best bet for the basketweave and the sweet tooth they have!
