Hi
Does anyone know how they did this pink fondant border on the cake?
Also, where can I get gumpaste cutters like these flowers and butterflies?
My daughter is turning one and I love the idea on the sides of this cake!!
I found the cake on www.bakemeacake.net
Thanks!!
LL

I'm still pretty new, but to me it looks like a strip of fondant, with one side being cut into scallops and then using that flower tool to kind of "frill" the scallops. it's really neat and i could use it on a cake next weekend if someone else has a better idea of how it is or could be done.

Maybe they used a fondant crimper tool?

The border just looks like a strip of fondant they've put around the cake then they used a fondant crimping tool, which you can get from Creativecutters.com, they also have lots of fondant cutters!

I think it looks like crimping too.

The flower cutters look like plunger/ejector cutters such as these http://www.fmmsugarcraft.com/pages/fullprod.php?id=7

I can't help with the butterfly cutters...but they are soooo pretty!

crimper tool to "pinch" the border, the flower are ejector flowers ...the ejector set comes in a pack with 3 diff sized flowers and the butterflies could be from a "tappit" mold .

Very easy cake to do if you are familiar with the techniques and have the right tools.

Good luck and please post!

oh if you need a place to order all of those you can go to..

www.beryls.com

she has all those things!

I found this too......

Straight Frill 9 -12
4 endless cutters that will make 8 basic border designs. The cutter can also be mixed, matched & ove

The third one is the one they used it looks like laid on it's side with the edge flipped up.

I'm with Mom on this one--I think the covered cake is sitting on a round pink "frill" that is about 3/4 of an inch larger than the cake tier. That pink frill has been set under the cake and over the green fondant on the board (that's had a similar cresecent frill piped in yellow royal icing).

My guess is that it's made with the Garrett Frill cutter and that each crescent has been frilled consistently with a ball tool before placement on the cake board.
