Luster Dust

Has anyone made fondant cookies or royal icigng cookies and used luster dust? Do you use it in the royal icing or do you sprinkle it on afterwards? I want to make a shiny tiara/crown and I wanted to know if I should use luster dust or edible glitter. What's the difference? Sorry so many questions but I have never used any of this on cookies.

With a disclaimer that I am not a pro by any means ...

Luster dust is typically brushed on.

I have seen tiara's where the edible glitter has been used and it was wonderful! I would go with the glitter for tiara's or crowns. You could also use both, as they are diferent textures.

Luster dust tends to be like, well dust that is shiny. the Edible glitter does look like regular grammer school craft glitter.

Yesterday someone on CC posted a great "how to" video tutorial for using luster dust. Check it out it might help.

I use luster dust on both fondant and royal covered cookies. With royal I apply the luster dust dry, except when I'm using gold dust. If you use it wet, the colors are very intense and sometimes pit the royal. On fondant you can apply it wet or day. If you look in my album there are examples of both.
