You could also do crown cookies with their names on it. The funky pens and pencils are a great idea, funky hair clips/ribbons/barretts (sp?) from the dollar store, satin gloves, mini purses to put their treasures in....the dollar store has all that stuff and more!

have you tried looking at the "oriental trading company" website? They have every party thing you would ever want (or don't want for that matter). And OMG are they cheap (that's a good thing). You can get bulk items for a little money.
They have everything from luau stuff to wedding stuff and christmas stuff...etc., etc., etc.
Hope that helps.

You can buy the really small bottle of nail polish (around $ .8icon_cool.gif. 2 years ago at my daughters birthday party we didn't have good bags, but we did have a pinata. All the kids enjoyed that! Oh and by the way that was for her 16th birthday.

I'm also planning a princess party. Here's what I'm doing:

Buying foam crowns and stick on jewels (from oriental trading for the jewels) and letting them make their own crowns. When the get there and pick a crown, I will write in sharpie their names on the front-center of the crown.

At the party, I will also be applying princess tattoos to anyone that wants them (Oriental trading - OT).

Goodie bags -
gold pencils with Samantha's 5th Birthday on them (OT)
glitter notebooks (OT)
light up wands (OT)
gemstone rings (OT)
princess stickers (OT)
heart-shaped lolipops (OT)
Mini Cinderella velvet poster kit (Michaels)
candy bracelets (OT)
princess fruit gummies (Grocery store)

decorations:
princess plates(Party Store)
princess banner (OT)
light pink utensils
dark pink tablecloths
Age 5 Birthday balloons
confetti
mylar balloons

Good luck!

I see you are in Canada...do you have a Dollarama? Head there! I bought a package with the satin gloves, tiara and wand for $1.00

emmasmom, I have 3 boys, and I can imagine that if they were at a princess party they would enjoy a prince hat. Or maybe knights armor and sword. (some people dont do swords but hey, boys love them!!) i wouldn't think it would have to go along with the theme. Boys also loooooove noise makers!! If its annoying, they'll dig it!!

We just did a tea party for my daughter and did purses as party favor bags. It was tea party themed but we went to Target and bought mirrors from the dollar aisle in pink and purple and some fun note pads. We also included little bracelets and lip gloss rings along with the customized candy bars that you have as well. Actually, we did a few activities and games that went along with the theme like making necklaces and bracelets from a kit ( that Michael's had for $1 each) and then formal tea hats. The girls each picked flowers and I had previously spray painted straw hats from Michaels. The girls picked their ribbon and flowers and I hot glued them while they were dining on tea sandwiches, but I'm getting ahead of myself. We put little white gloves in the purses too.

You can find tiaras at the dollar store and do a secret game by putting a plastic "glass" slipper in one of the bags for an extra surprise too. Anything that is girlie would work in the party favor bag. I also included some starbursts and other misc candy.

Good luck!
