Ok...I was just asked a few hours ago to make a dessert/cake for Sunday...our extended family christmas get-together. I've got to get started tonight with the baking because I'll be doing pics with Santa in the morning, then belated anniversary dinner w/DH tomorrow night. icon_wink.gif Soooo.....I thought red velvet would be pretty simple to do. But when I looked at the recipes posted here...there are so many to pick from! icon_rolleyes.gif I just want to be sure that the recipe I use tastes good & doesn't have that red food coloring taste to it.

Anyone have any suggestions/tried&true recipes? icon_smile.gif

I don't know if you prefer a scratch cake or not but DH Red Velvet mix is really pretty good, most like scratch IMO.

Thanks to both of you! icon_smile.gif But I don't have time to go to the store, and I have all the ingredients for a scratch red velvet on hand, already... icon_redface.gif That's why I was wondering about a recipe or opinions of the recipes posted here. I do appreciate your feedback, though!! thumbs_up.gif

I'll definitely do that! I may even need to make one at the end of January - client not quite sure yet on type of cake. If I do, I'll be sure to use yours! Thank you icon_smile.gificon_wink.gif
