I've been having trouble with my fondant. It always comes out too powdery but if I don't use enough confectioners sugar then it sticks to the counter. Can anyone help me with this problem?? icon_cry.gif

Are you referring to when you roll out the fondant?

I had the same problem til I switched to Crisco.
Try rubbing a bit on your worksurface and hands.
Good Luck!

I allways use cornstarch to powder my table and rolling pin - works fine for me

I use cornstarch also. It works better for me because it does not leave a sticky feel to the fondant. Mine come out powdery too, but after the pieces dry you can brush them off with a damp pastry brush and let it dry again. It will work out fine.

I use shortening, never sticks for me. I also put some on the rolling pin. Hope this helps.

I've used both shortening and cornstarch and prefer the cornstarch.

Assuming you're making your own, I'm wondering if you've let the fondant rest before rolling it out. When you let it rest, the sugar absorbs more of the moisture and it's much less sticky.
