Okay so.... I was making a few batches of MMF and My kitchen aid mixer is the bowl lift type. I went to clip the bowl into place and SNAP... My finger clipped between the bowl and mixer. It was so unbealievably painful. I just kept thinking "oh my god, oh my god, oh my god" I was going to pop the bowl out and release my finger but when you pop the bowl out the back goes down more and would have crushed my finger even more. Somehow i managed to bend the rim of the bowl towards me and pull my finger out. The bowl isn't permanently bent so thats nice and my finger is fine now. but WOW that was scary, and painful. incredibly painful, but a few seconds later it was completely fine.

Be careful when snapping those sneaky bowls into place!

Late one night three weeks ago I was working on the table I'm making in my woodshop and somehow (happened so fast) I got my left index finger in the blade of my table saw. It didn't hurt too much at first. I wrapped it in a clean shop paper towel and threw a couple logs in the wood stove before I hurried over the ice to the house. We had to take our little granddaughter home and head to the ER. Dd went with us because dh doesn't react well to bloody situations. We figured it he fainted she'd be able to support me. LOL Nothing funny about the situation but the next day was when I told her why I wanted her to come and she said that's exactly why she offered. I only lost the nail to the quick but had a deep cut under the edge of that. Thank God it was no worse. Hope this isn't making anyone sick. Things can and do happen fast. I'm all healed up now and able to cake again. Yeah!!

Well I don't want to gross you out more. But about 10 yrs ago I worked in a sewing factory. And I sewed my fingure and smashed it at the same time with the square part thet holds the needle. It is an Industrial double needle machine. So I was lucky. No real permenet damage. It damaged the cuticle bed. They worried I would have a nail grow back. I had my fingure in a splint for about a week. The nail did grow back. But I can't grow it out to far. It always splits and cracks where the needles went throw. I was lucky. LOL I always worry about catching my finger in something dangerous now. I did get my finger in a hand held mixer before. It hurt but no blood. SO be careful. CarolAnn I am glad you didn't have a more serious injury. Blades on saws are very dangerous. And I know you know that. Be careful.

That sounds like it hurt! icon_surprised.gif
The hand's getting cut part reminds me Extreme Makeover Home Edition episode that aired on 2/11/07. Ed Sanders was working on a wood piece that involved a lot of hard woods. He took the guard off to get at somethign better and no more than 5 minutes later he cut he hand open really bad. He was very lucky he didn't slice his hand clean off because they were using chainsaw blades on the handtools because the wood was that hard.

m0use, I was thinking the SAME THING when I was reading this thread.

I got my fingers caught in a lawnmower when I was in 9th grade. scary!
