I'm curious about the airbrushing equipment:
Do you have to get a special airbrush made especially for cakes?
What is a good brand and where can I find one???
TIA
Cindy
I just posted something to this effect the other day

Thanks Charleydog,
Very helpful link. I think I will have to look into this some more....I am not really ready to fork over 200.00 though. Have you checked out the one at Michael's yet? Do they sell the compressor too???
Although someone did state you could find them at Micheals, I could not. I live in Canada, maybe the States does....I am debating about the cost too.... if we could get them at Micheals with a coupon that would be great..
That's what I'm talking about. I am all about the Michael's coupons...And darn if I didn't get the ad in my paper today....Boy was I mad....Guess it was my que that I don't need to spend any money this week!!! LOL
When I went to Micheals and asked they looked at me like I was on crack!!!
They thought trying to sell me paint brushes would be the same thing..LOL
Because I have no life, and am ticked off at my hubby and have nothing better to do with my time I also found this link

Maybe this will help in your quest...
The airbrush doesn't need to be just for cakes, but your compressor should operate at a low psi. Still have some experimenting to do so I can be more specific in a couple of weeks.
I just got my airbrush today from Michael's using my 50% off coupon. So instead of $137, I paid $73 including tax. I will use the large compressor in the garage. It has a regulator on it so I can use whatever pressure works best.
My husband just told me to get the airbrush that I want as a Christmas gift from him. Now all I have to do is figure out which one I want. I also need a compressor, but he said that he wanted me to get both, so I guess I will. I was thinking about the Kopykake airmaster. I have never used one but have a great desire to do sculpted cakes, and I really think this would come in quite handy.
Does anyone have any recommendations on what supplies to get with it, other than cleaner, and colors? I believe that their was a moisture cup that you could order to control colors from spitting out? Has anyone had any trouble with this?
Thanks,
Wilma
I'm not sure where you're located, but the moisture trap is really only an issue if you have a lot of humidity. I bought one, but have never used it yet!
I have the KopyKake and I LOVE it. Because it is designed for cakes, the compressor works at a lower PSI and the actual airbrush is designed with a smaller cup (both very helpful features!)
Does anyone out there have the Sugarveil system? Could you attach an airbrush to that? If so, it sounds like the coolest thing ever...
