Okay, I have a big problem with MMF. I have attempted to make it 3 times now, and everytime, I just get a big ball of dry hard stuff. I follow the recipe and instructions on this site, but still it turns out bad. I think it is an IOE, and I am just to dense to figure it out. Is all the powdered sugar supposed to be able to be mixed in? There is probably a good 2 cups left in bowl, and it's already dried out. I am so frustrated, because I love the look of it, and from what I can tell, the taste. (I yanked off a piece of the dry stuff and popped it in my mouth, Pretty darn tasty.!

Pretty Pretty Please help me!!!

Thanks!

Once the powered sugar is unable to mix in, take it out and kneed in the remainder of the sugar. I use some of the sugar and dust a cutting board with it and kneed it in. It works like a charm and the MMF gets a soft texture. Then transfer it to plastic wrap and wrap tightly so that no air gets in.

PS- If you want to color the MMF, color the marshmellows after their melted. but before mixing into the powered sugar.

Hi there~ The one and only time I've ever made MMF, I didnt use all the powdered sugar the recipe called for. I don't remember the exact recipe, but i just slowly added powdered sugar until I had the consistancy of play-doh kind of.... I jsut eye-balled it, I think that is what most people on here have said, that the recipe calls for too much powdered sugar if you try to add it all. Give it a try again & just gradually add & knead, just stop when it is the right consistancy! icon_smile.gif Good Luck...

Can you post the recipe you are using? I use a 16 oz bag of mini marshmellows, two tbls of water: microwave, stir, microwave (make sure it's 16 oz, not the 14 oz which some brands are)

then I add in a 2 pound bag of sugar. I mix in about 2/3rds Then turn it out on my table and sprinkle more sugar on the table and keep mixing. Usually I have some of the two pound bag left but not a lot.

Try adding a tiny bit of water and heat it for 10 seconds or so in the microwave and see if that helps. (like 1/2 a teaspoon to start with)

The first time I made this I forgot to add the water to the mm when I microwaved, what a nightmare that was...

HTH,

Right you have to make SURE the bag you get is the 16 oz bag....I went to the store and the grocer didn't even have those, but Walmart did. I had to buy two small bags.

I was able to mix in all 2 lbs of sugar with my KitchenAid dough hook but it might have been a TAD too much...it worked perfectly but I found it seemed to dry a bit quick. I might try saving just a little bit out this time.

is the only way to color it is while the marshmellow is melted. What if you want different colors.

It's okay, I'm new to fondant. No need to apologize. I'll learn soon enough. Looks like I just need to play with it.
