I saw a Christmas tree kit at Micheals the other day and it sounds like this. It looked to be just star shaped cookies different sizes(large to small) iced with royal icing and stacked then frosted and decorated. Hope this makes senseicon_smile.gif

Yeap, I have the kit. We made some last year for some neighbors.

irisinbloom is right, just 10 star cookie cutters and you put them together with royal icing. You can decorate each one, all together after stacking or any variation inbetween. They are neat and pretty easy to do.

You should be able to find them at Michael's or maybe even Walmart, and there is always eBay.

Have fun!

I've had that kit for years and never used it...totally forgot about it! I'll have to give it a try this year...we are having a New Years Eve progessive dinner for our development...deeserts and midnight toast are at our house, so that would be kind neat to have as one of the desserts! Thanks for reminding me!!

Same here they do not have any in and aren't planning to get them.

So I was wondering for those of you that have the kit is it possible that I just buy the material separetly? What would I need? How many cookie cutters and what size? How many of each do I make? Also I was wondering how are the cookies stacked? For example if I want to give them as a goodie gift I guess I wouldn't put a lot of icing between them so that it is not to sweet right? Or am I way off track here? lol Would anyone be able to send me the instructions?
thanks

amaniemom, It really just depends on how big you want to make it. The X-mas tree kit from Wilton makes a BIG tree. I don't even know if you could get all those cutters unless you bought a tin of stars. Just decide on a size and then use cutters that change in size gradually. To stack, you just but a small mound of icing as glue.

I have made my own smaller version of the cookie tree. I have several different sizes of star cookie cutter (They have a 3 size star fondant cutter that you can get at Michael's) and I think I made 3 of each size. Just used what I needed--stacked until it looked right. Turned out to be about 6 inches tall and made nice gifts--plus you didn't need a truckload of cookie dough.

Thanks for the info I live in Western Canada and by the time I oreder it from the states it will pretty expensive. Michael's here said they don't have any and are not going to order it. I found a place int Eastern Canada that has them on sale but was wondering if it is worth $12.00 plus tax and S&H.

I paid $14 total... I also wondered if it was worth that much.. but then I justifyed it by thinking of all the gifts I'm gonna make with this. I figured it's going to be at least 6-10 gifts .... if I'm goona buy individual gifts at $15.00 a pop... it makes it worth it for me......if you break it down that way it might make it worth your while..... I should be getting it soon .. I'll give you feedback on it when I get it ... I also have a graduated star cookie cutter set I bought at michaels..... that I think would work too if you want to make a smaller version.

I did one of these years ago and it really turned out well .. they're really easy to do and it's just stacking the star shaped cookies on top of each other then decorating .. good luck with yours if you do one and remember to post pics for us to see!!

Today went with hubby to the mall and guess what I found? There was a kitchen booth sort of thing set up and they had the the kit there. Well of course I had to buy it. will hopefull start making a practise one soon. I am so excited. IT was for $15.oo. If I ordered it would have cost a lot of shipping (in Canada it is a killer).
