This is exactly the stlye that I have to make in 3 wks. What did you use for the brown & pink around the sides. I also have to do buttercream and am afraid if I use regular ribbon the grease from the icing will soak in. Please let me know.
The brown is fondant and the pink is real grosgrain ribbon. I waited for the fondant to dry on the cake before adding the grosgrain ribbon and it seemed to work out pretty well. I attached the ribbon in the back with hot glue.
