14", 10" and 6" red velvet cake with crusting cream cheese buttercream. Piped out about 1,000 loops. After I put it together I noticed that I missed the marks to align the columns.
Very fun cake!
Wow! That is a really neat cake. What a creative idea. How did you get all those loops to stay?!
Crusted Cream Cheese Buttercream? Will you share your recipe, please. LOVE your design! Did you pipe loops with royal?
Wow I love your cake. What a cool design. I Love those loops they look round on both sides Do you have any tips? :)
This is really just tooooo cooool! I wonder if they had to remove the loops to cut the cake???? Very unique!
Very lovely and quite unique!!!
OMG, I am doing this same cake for a wedding on april 29th, from the wilton weddig book, I finished my loops, just waiting to put it all together, mine is in ivory though. wow, you did a really great job, hope mine turns out this well!!!!!
Thank you! The loops are inserted in a ribbon of icing and we did remove some of them to cut it. I used thick royal icing and #3 tip and they didn't flatten like normal. The icing is 7 oz. Crisco, 3 1/2 oz. cream cheese, 2 lbs 10X powdered sugar, 1/3 c. warm water, 1 1/2 t. Butavan and a dash of salt. Mix just like buttercream. Very good icing but it crusts quickly. Let me know what you think if you try it!
