My nephew turned 17 on September 2nd. He loves horses and they love him! I took him for his first trail ride when he was I think 9 and he was a natural. It became a yearly thing for us, his reward for grading. He now has a girlfriend who has horses so going on a trail ride with his aunt might not be as appealing any more…..

I decided on a horse themed cake for him this year. The horses are done with a mesh stencil by Evil Cake Genius. Love it!! So easy to use and the final result is so detailed. The wood grain was done with an impression mat and then I painted the fondant with gel color and vodka. The bottom three inches of the cake is actually a cake dummy to get the height I needed as there weren’t that many of us to justify a huge cake.
