-It took three solid days of research to plan and do the structure layout. -The structure is made from ½” MDF, two stainless steel flush mounts and 1” PVC. I sadly made the mistake of not running piping for one of the gunners and it became a casualty…lol! -There are 19 sugar housing structures and multiple mechanical sugar devices spread throughout this cake. Between the characters, housing structures and mechanical devices there was about 8.5 pounds in fondant work on this cake in which took a little over 80 hours to complete. -It took an additional 9.75 lbs. of MMF, 77.5 cups of cake batter, 39.5 cups of buttercream to prepare this cake at 8” X 16” x 2’ and it would serve 168 people. -This cake took myself and my husband to lift in and out of the refrigerator during the decorating process, as it weighed around 70 pounds at its completed stage. After thoughts…while this cake was definitely huge, I certainly wouldn’t have made it any smaller because I couldn’t have been so detailed.
