Thank you so much for the nice comments! Actually, I have only been doing buttercream cakes for about 6 months. This technique with using the buttercream to paint with makes it so easy... I feel like my cakes are so ugly compared to the cakes I have seen from others who use this technique that have been doing it awhile. It is really easy. You use a toothpick or wooden skewer to draw out the design on your cake (I always copy coloring pages because the designs are so simple) then you use a 2or 3 tip (deepening upon how intricate the design is) and outline it then keep going around the inside of the outline until it is evenly filled in then I use a small offset spatula dipped in a little water to smooth it out. I have never seen this technique used outside of Oklahoma. I have lived in Utah, Colorado, and am always on cakesites and I have never seen this done before. I was so amazed when I saw them doing it here. I don't know maybe it has been around and I just have not seen it?
Darling cake. It's obvious from the skill level that you do a LOT of cakes. Love the meteor!
Very cool cake!
